UGC Development
The video below highlights my key learnings from my Undergraduate Competency Development journey. At the start of this course, I took an assessment that told me that I needed to work on the competency of Initiative & Entrepreneurship, which then led me to the next goal of starting to achieve the tasks I set out. I often find myself to be hesitant on trying new things and waiting to be asked to do them because I am scared of taking risks. To overcome this setback, I set a smart goal of Being able to solve a 2x2 and 3x3 Rubik’s Cube in under 2 minutes by week 6 and teach my friend to be able to solve both Rubik’s Cube by week 9 of this semester by providing journal notes to guide them. To demonstrate the success that I have fulfilled my goal, I will take a video of myself solving both cubes and if my friend is okay with it, I will get a video of them solving it too. While setting this goal, please note that I had no experience with Rubik’s Cube besides watching a few videos of people solving them really fast. In the future, I plan on taking the positive mindset I developed and using it toward other tasks I was afraid of trying. For example, I am not the best baker and have failed in the past. I am hesitant to try baking again as I don't want to waste time and ingredients. Next time around, I will take extra precautions and follow an instructional guide step-by-step.
Along my CLP journey, I took a Horne-Ostberg Morning-Eveningness Questionnaire, where I identified as an intermediate, with a score of 49. Based on my learning from this assessment, I need to sleep daily at around 12 am as it matches my circadian rhythm type the best and will help me feel more alert for a normal workday. This information will impact my journey as I will focus on getting sufficient sleep at the right time as it can enhance your cognitive function, alertness, and overall well-being, which are crucial for effective learning and productive work.
Understanding my optimal sleep patterns can also help me plan my schedule and set realistic goals for future projects since sufficient sleep helps with physical and mental health.
Now, let’s get into my UGC Development Video and my key learns.
